Email notifications? Yes, but only for comments left on groups and personal profiles. That’s how Facebook works. No email notifications for the administrators of Facebook Fan Pages.
How to solve the problem?
It’s simple. I found out about it thanks to a suggestion by @dogwalkblog.
1) Just click on the ‘Like’ option at the bottom of the entries you post on your Facebook Fan Page. You’ll receive an email notification every time someone will comment on it.
2) Make sure that all the boxes under ‘Links’ in your notification account settings are checked (Account Settings > Notifications > Links)
UPDATE 1: If you still feel that it’s pretty strange to ‘auto-like’ every post, here’s another tip: Add a short comment on each entry so you will receive email notifications on the following comments 😉
UPDATE 2: Fan Page Notifier is a service which alerts you when someone posts on your favorite pages in Facebook. I just started to play around with it, have a look and let me know if it works for you too! Thanks to @nikan for the comment & suggestion!
Why this is useful?
This is great to monitor comments on recent and especially previous updates. Without email notifications there’s no other way to be notified on any interaction on older updates shared on your Facebook Page.
If you have any other suggestion or tips on how to get Facebook Fan Pages email notifications share it in the comments or via twitter @vascellari (please remember to link back to this post so it will be easier to track and aggregate the conversation, thanks).
Since we are talking about Facebook Pages, here’s mine. On this page you’ll find interesting news and insights on strategic PR, marketing, social media and communications that I don’t share anywhere else.

Thanks, just turned mine on. Spending a great deal of my time focusing on Facebook Fan Pages, wait are they still called Fan pages?
@Anthony: Yes they are still called ‘fan pages’, make sure to not mix them with ‘community pages’ 😉
It’s crazy how much this post appears on time on my needs 🙂 I was just checkin these issue for my new fb page 😀
This because Facebook dont notify me when new comments are left on my page links thourgh its platform.. (I mean the upper left world icon), meanwhile I can check this kind notification from the Facebook iPhone app.. just one word for this…. weird.. -.-‘
Hope this workaround is gonna help me!

@Giuliano: Interesting, I didn’t know that the iphone/ipod app gave notifications, I’ll definitely have to play around with it…but yes, I agree it’s pretty #weird especially since ’email notifications’ is a feature largely requested by administrators. We’ll see what FB will come up with in future to address this need, meanwhile I hope this post will help you out 😉
Is there a way to get updates/posts from a Facebook page’s favorite pages? Facebook Pages can’t “like” pages, and I don’t want to like all these pages from my personal account, but how else can I see their updates (besides going to all 50 pages every day)?
@Lauren: Facebook doesn’t seem to have a page for ‘favorite pages’ yet, if that’s what you meant. The only chance we have is to become fans of pages with our personal profiles and we’ll get all the updates from pages in our news feed within Facebook 😉
This app will email notifications… http://apps.facebook.com/pagenotifier
Try MonitorMyPage at http://www.monitormypage.com. It automatically monitors your Facebook fan pages or Facebook business pages and looks for changes…new wall posts, comments, links, photos, etc. Then, MonitorMyPage emails the changes to you.
is this liking photos on your fan page from you personal page working for anyone? i recenlty liked all of my photos and status updates on my fan page and have not received any notification when comments were lefted. I checked my notification settings and have everythinged checked so idk why it’s not emailing me when comments are left.
I’m not sure it works on ‘photos’…but it certainly gives you notifications on activity on your ‘wall posts’ 🙂
I am not looking to have them in my email inbox but rather have them appear on my news feed page…? how can I do this?
@Roch that would be a handy option too, but I’m not sure there’s a way of doing it (yet).
where’s the message i typed?
I came here as I want email notifications for messages sent directly to fan pages.`
These are genuine customer enquiries that could be made within a few hours of an event. We need to be able to respond to them. But if they do not forward to an email box, we quite often can’t. We cannot keep checking Facebook. A solution would be welcome (some have used the ‘person instead’ approach); in the meantime we will focus on other, better-quality media platforms.
